Meet our Vice Chancellor

Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha is the Acting Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Anambra State, Nigeria, who is a renowned Professor of Mass Communication. She has made significant contributions as Commissioner for Education in Anambra State, notably launching the Teaching on Air initiative during the COVID-19 lockdown. Prof. Kate Omenugha, our indefatigable VC, in collaboration with Dr. Mrs. Uchechukwu Victoria Enweani inspired and initiated the idea behind this laudable project.

The COOU was established in 2000 under Law No. 13 by the Anambra State Government, and has evolved from a 2-campus structure to a distinguished institution with a rich history of academic excellence.

Originally situated at Uli and Igbariam campuses, we have grown from inheriting assets and liabilities of the former Ekwenugo Okeke Polytechnic and College of Agriculture to becoming a leading Centre for higher education in Nigeria.

In 2006, our commitment to academic progress led to a significant change as we transitioned from Anambra State University to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, aligning with the recommendations for a conventional university structure.

We proudly welcome Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha as our Acting Vice Chancellor, bringing with her a wealth of experience in education and human capital development. With a distinguished career at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria and exemplary service as a former Commissioner for Education, Professor Omenugha embodies our dedication to academic excellence and innovation.

Welcome to the E-Library

As the University Librarian, I would like to encourage you in your studies and advise you to make good use of the knowledge you will acquire from our massive collection. The library team will help you to locate, select and acquire the information you need from what may seem like a rather daunting mountain of materials.

The University Library is saddled with the responsibility of providing you with materials, which include electronic and hard copy resources, etc., to enhance teaching and learning in the University community and beyond. However, we can offer you much more than simply the opportunity to borrow literature required for study, teaching and research. We hope you will use the library as a place of learning, information and communication to develop your intellect.

You can make use of our facilities, our advisory and training services, provided by specialist staff as well as our literature collection, which comprises eBooks, e-Journals and hard copy texts.

The university library will continue to improve its services continually to meet up with global practices and international standard.
